April 13, 2023: New API release – affecting all users of Konsolidator Konnect®

We have rebuilt Konsolidator Konnect® to deliver a faster and better experience for our customers. This means that we will be replacing the existing API/data source with a new URL, which you get in the setup guides.
If you currently use Konnect® to extract data from Konsolidator, you must change your local files or scripts to receive your data from the new Konnect® before the old one reaches end of life.

The old Konsolidator Konnect® API will phase out slowly

We know that for some of you, this will require some time. Therefore, the old Konsolidator Konnect® will remain available for six months, giving everybody time to move over to the new one before it ceases to be available at the end of September 2023.

These changes will not impact the POST part of the API, so no action is needed for those who use the API to input data into Konsolidator.

How will updating Konsolidator Konnect® benefit me?

Rebuilding Konnect® was necessary to improve loading time for our increasing customer base, and we have ensured that this update to Konsolidator Konnect® brings even more benefits, including:

  • Improved performance: With the rebuilt Konnect®, you can pull data much more quickly.
  • Availability of additional information: You will have additional information available for your reporting and streamlined field names across the tables.
  • Ease-of-use: With the new Konsolidator Konnect®, you get an easy-to-use startup file for any Excel reporting.

What do performance, additional information, and ease-of-use mean?

Below you can read what improved performance, availability of additional information, and ease-of-use mean to you as a user.

Performance

From now on, all calls to the primary data tables will require a single value filter on both Year, Month, Source, and Structure. The new Konsolidator Konnect® will be the same type of data endpoint you know and are used to with the previous OData feed. However, significant changes have been made to optimize the performance.

The two key changes are:

  • Konnect® has been rebuilt from the ground up with a brand new architecture
  • Industry-standard fair use policies including limitation per server call via mandatory filters
Additional information available

You will find many updates in the new Konsolidator Konnect® with changes to and additional information in the tables based on our customers' feedback.

Some of the most significant changes are:

  • Local account information is now available when retrieving uploaded numbers
  • All sources are now available in the same table for consolidated numbers
  • Consolidated numbers are now debit/credit as opposed to presentation style to align with the rest of the financial figures in Konnect®.
  • Field names have been streamlined across the tables

The new Konnect® is optimized and prepared for many improvements to come

We have ensured that Konnect® will be ready for further changes later on like additional counterparty information and more information regarding journals to name a few. As a result, we can continue to add and develop the features that matter the most to our customers without you having to do extra work because of breaking changes later on when the information is released.
Note that you will see some empty new columns in the tables, which will not contain their intended data yet.

Ease-of-use

With the new Konsolidator Konnect®, you get an easy-to-use startup "KonnectFramework" file for any Excel reporting. "KonnectFramework" is an Excel Workbook with predefined tables and queries to ensure optimal data retrieval. The file has an easy-to-use setup sheet to select which tables to retrieve and limit data as needed.

Another benefit is that this file takes Power Query programming out of the equation for the end user. You can, of course, still access the data source the same way you have been used to, but keep in mind that limiting data per server call is mandatory, as explained above.

How to get started with the new Konsolidator Konnect®

We recommend downloading the startup excel file "KonnectFramework", already linked to the new Konnect®. You can use the file to move your existing Excel reporting from the old to the new Konnect® by copying the existing reporting tabs from the old report into the new startup file.

The startup file is also recommended as a starting point for reporting generated from scratch.
