Bulgaria adopts euro as currency on 1 January 2026
USING BULGARIAN CURRENCY IN YOUR GROUP?
This guide is relevant for you who have a company that uses the Bulgarian Lev (BGN) currency.
As a consequence of Bulgaria’s adoption of euro (EUR), effective January 1, 2026, you need to be aware of some system implications in Konsolidator. The implications will depend on whether you continue to use BGN or choose to switch to EUR as your functional currency in Konsolidator.
Option 1: Continue using BGN
If you continue to upload data locally in BGN, Konsolidator will use the conversion rate of BGN fixed at 1.95583 = EUR 1 in accordance with the (ECB) https://www.ecb.europa.eu/press/pr/date/2025/html/ecb.pr250708~b9676a9fa8.en.html.
No further action will be required of you.
Option 2: Changing from BGN to EUR
If you choose to switch to EUR from BGN, you will need to create a new company in Konsolidator with EUR as the functional currency.
To do this, follow the 3 steps below:
- Go to Setup → Group Structure → Add New Company.
For this entity, "First Consolidation" should be set to the period when you will start uploading data for this entity in EUR.- Enter the required company details and select EUR as the functional currency.
- For the "old" entity that uses BGN, you should stop uploading data.
